The Genesis of the Classical Violin Sonata
Project with my Hamburg Students
It was a great time near to my homearea with Ingrid and Gerhard Theis in the house of the Otzberger Summer Concert Series! With my Hamburg students we spent about a week with intensive work on the genesis of the classical violin sonata from Mozart with three final concert events in Otzberg-Zipfen and Darmstadt. I was supported by my dear colleagues Fredrik Schwenk and the admirably indestructible Alexei Petrov, who played a good four and a half hours in the mammoth Sunday concert. Many thanks to everybody involved in the project, I enjoyed those days!

The world premiere performance of my piano quartet at the Festival Otzberger Summer Concerts was a great success: after the Scherzo, there was spontaneous applause, which increased by a multiple after the conclusion of the performance. Many thanks to festival director Ingrid Theis, who gave me the opportunity for this premiere! And of course, the musical collaborators Alexei Petrov, Kaori Yoshida and Mathias Beyer-Karlshoj, who studied and performed the work together with me. May it also sound in many other performances!

Bach Sei Solo
„Essi sono, é vero, il frutto di una lunga e laboriosa fatica“ (They are truly the fruit of a long and laborious work). Of course, Mozart’s famous words from the dedication of the so-called „Haydn Quartets“ are cited here in a completely different context of incomparably lower significance. But with this publication I hope you don’t resent me to feel - if not as a father - at least as an obstetrician. So I’m delighted to announce the release of my interpretation of Bach’s 6 solo sonatas and partitas in July. Many thanks to the great sound engineer Thorsten Weigelt, who was an incredible support in this project - not only in good, but also in bad times! I am no less grateful to Ludger Böckenhoff with his entire team of Audite, who stayed loyal in difficult times as well. I am absolutely aware of the fact - especially in our modern world - that this can’t be taken for granted. So I am happily looking forward to the reactions to this publication. Everyone who knows me must be aware of my particularly intense relationship with Bach. I am very happy with this recording.
